1 year down and many more to go! An introduction to the blog and a classic end of the year recap.
Hello! After a year in the photography buis, I realized I cannot push this off any longer. I need to start blogging. I have absolutely been dragging my feet on this. Why? Well let me tell you: 1. I have NEVER EVER been able to keep a journal, diary, or cohesive writing piece. I absolutely adore writing, but find it painstaking reliving what my memory has already captured. 2. People reading my recaps… *Macaulay Culkin Home Alone voice* woof. But here I am giving it a damn go. So I thought what better way to kick this off then with an introduction.
I am Sammi. I wish I had some romanticized story of getting my first camera when I was born and I had this dream for as long as I can remember. Or I would love to say that I followed in a loved one’s footsteps. Those seem to be the heartwarming tales of so many photographers, but not mine. Mine came from angst over the monotony and mundane 9-5, and envy over my sister in law. Really cute stuff right? IT IS BETTER THAN IT SOUNDS I SWEAR!
I have worked a lot of jobs, to spare you the novel of going through all of those let me just say I was never satisfied. After graduating, going back to school, and mixing it up I began to realize that I am not one meant for this life. Pondering over what I could do, I thought to my sister in law. She is a wedding photographer, and I always caught myself saying, “She has the coolest job”. And that is where this crazy idea hit. Well if she does it…what if I could too?
Many factimes with her later, investing a majority of my husband and my wedding present money into camera gear, and getting out there I found that I really like this. The more I shot, the more I liked it, and so it goes. That is how I ended up 1 year in and excited for many to come.
So welcome. I am so happy you have decided to join me on this wild ride! This blog will eventually be filled with tips, retellings of beautiful days, and so much more. But for now: some of my favorite PICS FROM YEAR ONE TO ENJOY!

When Jiwon inquired she said, “Shashank and I aren’t doing anything big or traditional. I just want to elope with some close friends and I may not even wear a white dress…gasps.” The goal was simple getting these two married! In St. Louis, Missouri courthouse marriages happen on Wednesday. A Wednesday was set, friends booked […]
